I Settled For Surrogacy After 6 Miscarriages – Ini Edo

Nollywood actress Iniobong Edo Ekim popularly known as “Ini Edo” has revealed she experienced six miscarriages before opting for surrogacy to have her daughter

The 42-year-old actress discussed her fertility struggles on the latest season of Young, Famous & African, now streaming on Netflix. She shared how repeated heartbreak from miscarriages led her to consider surrogacy, a choice she now treasures.

I never thought I would have fertility issues, but I’ve had problems carrying pregnancies long-term,” she said

Reflecting on her earlier plans, Ini Edo admitted she had envisioned a different path. “I got married at the age of 26 because I thought that at 31, I would have been done with childbearing and I would have retired and faced my career. But life didn’t pan out that way. I tried. I have had over six miscarriages,” she admitted.

Known for her roles in World Apart and Games Women Play, Ini Edo explained that turning 40 prompted her to explore other options.

When it wasn’t happening as I hoped and I wasn’t getting younger, I decided to explore my options. Surrogacy became the best path for me, and I’m very happy with my decision,” she revealed.

Addressing her daughter’s paternity, Ini Edo revealed that the child’s father is alive but not involved in raising her.

I’m raising her alone,” she stated. “There was no man in my life at the time, but I wanted to have a child. There are different ways to go about that.”

Ini Edo emphasized that her decision was deeply personal and emotional. “Surrogacy wasn’t just an easy way out for me it was a thoughtful choice. I’ve always wanted to be a mother,” she said.
