ALBAWABA – Apple, the American multinational corporation and technology company, announced partnering with Tencent, a Chinese multinational technology conglomerate and holding company, and ByteDance, a Chinese internet technology company who owns TikTok, to provide artificial intelligence tools and features in China.

Sources revealed that the talks between Apple, Tencent and ByteDance are still at early stages. Apple needs to partner with local Chinese companies as ChatGPT, the generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by OpenAI, is currently not available in China.

Apple is planning to provide artificial intelligence (AI) tools and features to iPhone phone users in China through this partnership. Following the company's recent announcement of integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its devices, Apple is now looking to introduce it in China by partnering with major local Chinese tech companies like Tencent and ByteDance.

China regulations

It is worth noting that ChatGPT is currently not available for users in China. The country demands certain regulations and approvals for AI releases. This led Apple to discuss potential partnerships with local Chinese tech companies like Tencent and ByteDance.

None of the three companies commented on the recent news at this time. Experts say this partnership will support China’s AI and tech market, as the lack of AI capabilities in iPhones sold in China negatively impacted both Apple’s sales and the overall Chinese market
