A Russian court has issued an enormous fine of 20 decillion dollars $20,000,000,000,000,000, -000,000,000,000,000,000' against Google, reportedly exceeding all the money in the world.

The fine stems from claims by 17 Russian TV channels whose YouTube accounts were banned due to international sanctions.

Pro-Kremlin channels involved in the case include Russia 1 and networks associated with Margarita Simonyan, a Russia Today host.

A Moscow judge referred to the fine as “a case with many, many zeros,” with news source RBC reporting the fine has doubled weekly since 2020, now reaching $20 decillion.

For context, Google’s third-quarter revenue was $88.2 billion, far short of the fine. Google's total market value is $2 trillion, and the World Bank values the global economy at around $100 trillion.

Google closed its Russian division in 2022 following the Ukraine invasion, though services like YouTube remain available in Russia. The company has faced pressure from Russian authorities to remove content deemed illegal and has blocked certain pro-Russia channels on YouTube, including Tsargrad TV, a propaganda outlet owned by oligarch Konstantin Malofeev.

Currently, the fine totals over 2 undecillion rubles—a staggering 36-digit amount. Nevertheless, Google maintains that these legal issues will not significantly impact its finances. It’s unlikely the fines would reach a "googol"—the number 1 followed by 100 zeros.
